Yoga: natural cure for insomnia

Yoga can be one of the best cures for insomnia, when chosen correctly. Yoga exercises aim to relaxing and strengthening, so routine yoga sessions in the afternoon may help with insomnia. The most ancient yogis wrote their Mantras about hypnotic techniques and other issues referred to insomnia in their Sanskrit language. How can such an ancient knlowledge like yoga be useful for sleeping? We expect you share your experiences and advice!!

Use your common sense for a moment. Are we as a species really designed to "burn the midnight oil" the way we do? We turn nights into day in modern times and yet, our ancestors, more in tune with Nature and their biological needs, could not have done what we do. In more natural times, the hours for sleep began as the light of day ebbed. Without electricity, people had no way to prolong the daylight hours. They went to bed at dark and woke with the light which, except in the "land of the midnight sun," is at least an eight-hour stretch. To this day the health philosophy of the yogis includes going to sleep by nine and arising with the sun. In terms of quality sleep, the hours you get before midnight are most valuable and most restful. This is something that you can verify for yourself. Try going to sleep early as often as possible. It is no accident that the old adage "Early to bed, early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise" is so often repeated. Or that an early night is called "a beauty sleep." Sleep as much as you need to and, for heaven's sake, don't be ashamed to do so.

Sometimes we tend to do things without considering the consequences simply because we weren't aware that there might be negative ones. If you have, for whatever reason, jeopardized your sleep for other activities, be it work, play, or whatever, you are undermining your health. Turn that around and start to allow your body the rest and sleep it requires as a biological necessity of life, and you are in store for a most rewarding change in your life.
